The Bucs continue to sort through defensive injuries.
The Bucs saw another key defender shelved for extended time, as they placed linebacker SirVocea Dennis on injured reserve.
The move, announced by the team Tuesday, means Dennis will miss at least four games due to a shoulder injury suffered Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. The second-year player out of Pitt showed some serious potential despite limited snaps, recording 22 total tackles and 1 sack while splitting time with K.J. Britt. He tallied a very solid 67.3 grade from Pro Football Focus in his four games played.
The move puts a dent in the team’s pass defense versatility, as Dennis primarily took over for the much more athletically limited Britt on obvious pass downs. This might mean more snaps for third-stringer J.J. Russell in those situations, or more dime packages that utilize Jordan Whitehead or Christian Izien in a linebacker role.
Bucs are signing linebacker Antonio Grier from the practice squad to the 53-man roster, and bringing back FSU’s Kalen DeLoach to the practice squad.

In corresponding moves, the team also signed Antonio Grier, Jr. to the active roster and brought back rookie Kalen DeLoach to take Grier’s spot on the practice squad. Grier impressed in training camp and preseason and will likely take on special teams snaps.
