Which staff member will nail their pick this week?
As the Bucs are set to take on the Falcons this week, we here at Bucs Nation will dive into some picks and predictions for Tampa Bay’s matchup in Atlanta.
Check it all out below.
Predictions
Gil Arcia: Evans is live in the ATL
There’s something about playing in Atlanta that Mike Evans rarely, if ever, scores a touchdown. And ever since head coach Todd Bowles said they needed to find ways to get him the ball following the loss to Denver, Tampa Bay got Evans involved in last week’s game against the Eagles early and often. Same thing will happen this week as Evans will lead the team in reception, yards, and two scores.
Mike Kiwak: Goliath game for Godwin
I agree with Gil that a Bucs receiver will have a huge game, but it won’t be Evans. Do you know which team allows the most productivity to opposing receivers in the slot thus far? If you guessed the Falcons and their nickel Dee Alford (graded at just 52.8 by PFF), ding ding you win! You know who’s been the NFL’s most productive slot target? If you guessed Chris Godwin, you’re on a roll. Everything is set up for Godwin to continue his career-best campaign. I’ll predict 10 catches, 110+ yards, and a score.
Will Walsh: Ugly wins count all the same
The Bucs split with Atlanta last season and neither game was a virtuoso of NFL football. That trend will continue this go around as, on a short week, Tampa Bay will have to claw past their NFC South rival. A win is a win, whether it’s 13-10 or 31-9. Fans are likely to spend a good majority of this game feeling as stressed out as a Tom Brady led team— Much like a Tom Brady led team, the Bucs will pull out the win.
Evan Wanish: Baker keeps rolling
Last week against Philadelphia was a massive bounce back game for Baker Mayfield and one that both he and the Bucs needed badly. Mayfield make quick, smart decisions and looked darn near unstoppable for most of the game. I think he continues his success this season against a stingy Atlanta secondary, but finds a way to throw two touchdowns on the way to a Tampa Bay victory.
