Tampa Bay, Winfield can’t catch breaks with the injuries.
The Tampa Bay Bucs 28-13 win over the Las Vegas Raiders Sunday seemed good enough to provide hope for the remainder of the season as the team now controls their own destiny for a potential division title. However, lost in the victory was an injury to one of their star defensive players that will be sidelined once again for an extended period of time.
On Monday, speaking to the media, head coach Todd Bowles confirmed a knee injury to star safety Antoine Winfield, Jr.
When asked how much time he’d miss, head coach Todd Bowles told the media on Monday he would be out “a couple weeks” after briefly touching on Winfield’s injury
“He’s got a knee sprain. He’ll be out a little while.”
Tampa Bay will still be without Jordan Whitehead this week and Mike Edwards is still nursing a bad hamstring. So while the Bucs will undoubtedly have others sprinkled in to the defensive backfield for the safety positions, questions marks around the availability for Winfield, Whitehead, and Edwards during a crucial final stretch of games for the Bucs posses a great challenge for the defense.
