Baker Mayfield was asked about his time in Tampa Bay so far and gave Bucs’ fans a humorous response.
Tampa Bay Bucs’ quarterback Baker Mayfield, on the Mike Calta show, was asked how much fun he had last season and if he was able to feel the support of the Tampa Bay Bucs‘ community. Mayfield’s response was a highly quotable one— saying, “You’re having a lot more fun when you’re not getting shipped off to different places like a dirty piece of laundry.”
After the chuckles of Mayfield comparing himself to unwashed clothing subsided, he addressed how the support from fans and the Bucs has landed with him— “When I got embraced in Tampa it made a world of difference… I’m so excited for having more years to come in Tampa… I’d do anything for our team, [the] locker room guys know that.”
In the interview, the former Heisman Trophy winner also said he, “Couldn’t be happier [with] the way it worked out” and that Tampa “felt like home.”
Mayfield’s overall tone towards the Tampa Bay Bucs organization and fanbase was one of gratitude, appreciation, and excitement towards the future. If he can carry over his success from a year ago (nearly a 3:1 touchdown to interception ratio) the support for Baker Mayfield in Tampa Bay will only be further strengthened.
