It was a fun night for that group.
Sure, I know what many of you are thinking. It’s preseason and the Bucs success on the ground in Cincinnati is nothing (yet) to be thoroughly excited about. But whether the Bengals had their reserves in just like Tampa Bay did across the field, their was promise for a nice running game in 2024.
Rookie running back Bucky Irving has had a good camp so far and transferred that into his first live game action in Cincy. The rookie finished with 28 yards on six carries and a touchdown you can see below. But it was his quick feet and ability to make tacklers miss that was on display Saturday night.

Second-year guy Sean Tucker also had a good night. The 22-year-old out of Syracuse ran for 68 yards on 10 carries which included a 26-yard run. He led the team in running accounting for the bulk of the Bucs team total of 136 yards rushing.
Sean Tucker running well — breaks out for a 26-yard gain. He’s at 66 yards today — last year, had 81 rushing yards total in three preseason games as a rookie.

Both Buccaneer touchdowns came on the ground, including the game winner by running back Ramon Jefferson who got some help from his offensive line with under a minute left in the game.
It was a good night for the Bucs backs. Yes it’s only preseason but we witnessed individual player ability and success and it was fun to watch. Whether it’s just one preseason game or not, still makes you wonder what could be if that carries all that way into the regular season.
No pun intended, of course.
