Lots of key players for the Bucs missed practice on Wednesday

The Tampa Bay Bucs have won two in a row and are now in control of their own destiny for the NFC South crown and a playoff berth. Standing in their way this week are the Green Bay Packers, who are coming off a loss to the New York Giants on Monday night. Both teams are in the thick of the playoff race and come into this game needing to emerge victorious. Unfortunately for both sides, they’re dealing with lots of key injuries.

Both teams conducted a walkthrough on Wednesday, so the injury reports are estimations – but that doesn’t make things look any better. Missing practice for the Bucs on Wednesday were Chris Godwin (knee), Carlton Davis (groin), Devin White (foot), William Gholston (knee/ankle), Ryan Neal (back), Zach Triner (elbow), and Vita Vea (toe). The only good news for the Bucs was that Jamel Dean, who has missed the last three games, was limited in practice and may be close to returning.

Vita Vea missed last week and the Bucs were able to overcome his absence, but this is a lot of starters and key contributors that are unavailable early in the week. Though, not as long of a list as the Packers.

Green Bay also conducted a walkthrough but were without A.J. Dillon (thumb), Darnell Savage (shoulder), Quay Walker (shoulder), Christian Watson (hamstring), and Dontayvian Wicks (ankle). Limited for the Packers were Jaire Alexander (shoulder), Elgton Jenkins (shoulder), Aaron Jones (knee), Keisean Nixon (quadriceps), Jonathan Ownes (knee), Jayden Reed (ankle), and T.J. Slayton (quadriceps).

With both teams extremely beat up and facing a must win it’ll be interesting to see who is able to fight through the injuries and be productive on Sunday. However, the Bucs appear to be preparing themselves to miss some players. Wide receiver David Moore was officially signed to the active roster after being elevated from the practice squad each of the last three weeks while they also signed long snapper Evan Deckers to their practice squad – an obvious “just in case” move with Triner having not participated in practice Wednesday.

Here is the full injury report for both teams;

The Bucs and Packers kickoff inside Lambeau Field at 1:00 p.m. ET on CBS. Andrew Catalon, Tiki Barber, and Matt Ryan will be on the call.
