The Bucs are 2-0 and putting the NFC on notice

The Bucs pulled off an impressive upset on Sunday, knocking off the Detroit Lions 20-16. It was a game where Tampa Bay had multiple players step up in different spots throughout.

The Bucs were able to get some revenge on the team that ended their season last year and revenge like this sure is sweet.

Godwin’s back, tell a friend

For the second week in a row, Chris Godwin was the Bucs leading receiver and he was unstoppable on Sunday. He racked up seven catches for 117 yards including a touchdown.

Godwin has been on an absolute tear so far this season. He appears to be fitting right in with Liam Coen’s offense and has been massive for Tampa Bay’s offense. Mike Evans and co will still get their yards and have their games, but through the first two weeks it’s been the Godwin show.

Baker Mayfield: Ankle breaker

Mayfield was solid on Sunday. The stat sheet won’t necessarily show it, but he routinely came up with some massive throws and drove the Bucs down the field for a critical touchdown drive once the Lions had taken the lead. On that drive, he made sure that the Lions defender wasn’t going to stop him from getting the first down.

Baker got the job done on Sunday and he’s been exactly everything the Bucs could have hoped for when they signed him in March of 2023 and then extending him this past offseason.

Take a bow, Jason Licht

Bucs general manager Jason Licht continues to prove that he is one of the best executives in the entire NFL. Licht has been so good at finding talent throughout the entire NFL draft, but it also extends beyond that. The amount of undrafted free agents that have been signed by Licht and contributed cannot be overstated. He’s a massive reason why they have maintained success after the Tom Brady era.

Tampa Bay is very lucky to have Jason Licht be the man at the helm.

Tell Em Gerald!

Former Buccaneer great Gerald McCoy picked the Bucs to beat the Lions this past weekend even when the odds weren’t in their favor. After the game, he made sure to remind everyone about his correct take.

Never change, Gerald.

The Bucs are 2-0 for the fourth straight season and will look to go 3-0 for the first time since 2005 when the Denver Broncos come to town. For now though, this was a massive, tough win for Tampa Bay.
