Today, the Bucs announced their fifth and final starter on the offensive line.

Ben Bredeson and the Tampa Bay Bucs agreed to a one-year deal earlier this year. Bredeson was a free agent, coming off of a season where started 16 games for the New York Giants— a career high. In Bredeson’s previous two seasons, as a Giant, he started just nine games.

On Wednesday, it was confirmed by Todd Bowles that the training camp battle for the team’s left guard position had concluded and the former New York Giant was the winner.

At the time of his signing, Bredeson was not a definitive lock to start, however, he became a quintessential one when Sua Opeta sustained a season-ending knee injury a few weeks ago.

For Bredeson, 2024 represents a massive opportunity. He will have the chance to play alongside an elite left tackle in Tristan Wirfs and beside a rookie center who projects to be a fairly high-level pro.

Tampa Bay’s offensive line was one of the team’s largest strengths during their Super Bowl run and subsequent seasons with Tom Brady. For the first time since then, it feels like Tampa’s front five may be on their way back to that might.
